A well-established industrial distribution organization is seeking a hands-on Sales Manager to lead a remote sales team across the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest region.

Many sales leadership roles are focused on maintaining what already exists.

This is not a desk manager role.

The right person enjoys coaching salespeople, conducting ride-alongs, developing talent, building team connection, and helping people become more successful in the field.

Job Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and develop a remote team of outside sales professionals across a multi-state territory
• Spend meaningful time in the field with customers and salespeople
• Conduct ride-alongs, field coaching, customer visits, and account reviews
• Drive accountability, sales execution, and territory development
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal partners
• Support profitable growth through planning, forecasting, and sales leadership
• Partner closely with operations, customer service, and technical resources to support customer success

The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader from a  technical, value-added industrial distribution environment w ho understands field sales, industrial customers, and how to develop outside salespeople.

Ideal Background

• Technical, value-added industrial distribution
• Experience leading outside salespeople, Account Managers, or territory sales teams
• Industrial end-user customer environments
• Experience selling to or supporting manufacturing, process, industrial, or contractor-based customer environments
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and field leadership experience
• Experience leading remote or geographically dispersed teams
• Revenue, margin, forecasting, and territory management exposure
• Strong customer and supplier relationship management skills
• Understands industrial customer environments and field-based selling

Location & Travel

This is a  remote, field-based leadership role covering the Great Lakes and Upper Midwest region.

Candidates should reside within the region and be located near a major airport. Approximately 50% travel is expected for customer visits, ride-alongs, team development, and sales leadership activities.

Compensation

Base salary expected in the  mid-$100Ks plus bonus opportunity and comprehensive benefits.
