Van Driver

Job Title

Under general supervision of the Director of Transportation or designee. Drives a District van over designated routes according to established time schedules. Pick up and discharge pupils at designated locations. Keep inside and outside of vehicle clean and fueled. Maintain mileage records, daily vehicle reports and vehicle inspection reports. Adheres to District policies and procedures in maintaining appropriate student behavior to assure safe vehicle operation. Perform other related duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Safe driving practices and techniques. Provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code, the California Education Code, and current city and District regulations applicable to the operation of vehicles in transportation of school children. Basic First Aid procedures and methods. Local demography of area. Ability to: Drive a van and other automotive equipment safely and efficiently. Maintain order among children in vehicle. Learn designated routes, appropriate stops and hazards. Flexibility of daily routes and schedule. Obtain a standard First Aid certificate; Obtain required yearly Inservice hours Maintain cooperative, effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work. CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver's license Certification of CPR/First Aid Possession of a safe driving record – Enrollment in Pull Program with DMV The successful candidate must meet all requirements of California Senate Bill 88 (SB 88) for transporting students.
