About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN License required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in Med-Surg, preferably with peritoneal dialysis. Familiarity with common diagnoses such as orthopedics and basic neuro post-ops. Description: The unit has 52 beds, all private rooms. Ratios are 1:6-7, mostly 1:7 for both day and night shifts. Charge nurses take a full patient assignment and are supported by a clinical assistant. There is a team of 4-6 nurse aides per shift. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, and holiday rotations are mandatory. Registered nurses wear navy blue scrubs, while nurse aides wear grey. Remote telemetry monitoring is utilized as needed. Registered nurses are not required to read strips but can do so if experienced. Common drips include Heparin and PCA with MSO4. The team manages Bipap, CPap, and high flow oxygen. A hospitalist is present 24/7, along with an intensivist in the ICU. There is an in-house IV team and pharmacy available 24/7. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, from 0645-1915 or 1845-0715. Staff can submit up to six requests off per 6-week schedule. Travelers are preferred to have experience with peritoneal dialysis. If a patient is being tested for COVID, they will usually remain in the unit until results are available. Charting is done using Allscripts.
