Travel Nurse - RN - RNFA - Registered Nurse First Assist - $1821 / Week

Travel Surgical First Assistant – Registered Nurse Travel assignment in Louisville, KY, starting 07/06/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay is $1821. Responsibilities Assist the surgeon during operative procedures by providing exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions. Position, prep, and drape patients for surgery according to established protocols. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by providing appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment. Perform wound closure, dressing application, and other technical tasks as directed by the surgeon. Maintain sterile techniques and promptly address any breaches to ensure patient safety. Monitor patient’s condition intraoperatively, report changes to the surgeon, and respond appropriately to emergent situations. Observe and document patient information as needed within scope of practice. Actively participate in Universal Protocol and timeout to confirm patient identity, procedure, and surgical site and adhere to all safety protocols. Ensure the availability and functionality of surgical machines, instruments, and implants, addressing any issues promptly. Collaborate with the surgical team, including anesthesiologists, circulating nurses, and scrub techs, to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety. Stay informed on advancements in surgical techniques, robotics, and perioperative care through continuing education. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice. Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications One year of recent experience as a Surgical First Assistant RN. Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA or CRNFA) certification. Valid RN license in compliance with state regulation. Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification. Preferred Qualifications ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification. Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position. Required Essential Skills Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills. Proficient read/write and English communication. Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills. Physical ability: remain stationary, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend. Interpersonal ability: work effectively with a variety of personnel. Technical/motor skill: fine manipulation and assistance during procedures. Mental requirement: cope with frequent contact with public, meet deadlines under pressure, work with or without assistance, handle irregular activity schedules, maintain concentration on detail.
