Bartender (Part-Time)

Location: Hotel Barnes, 225 Powell St, San Francisco, CA 94102, USA Reporting to the General Manager, we are looking for a seasoned, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our guests. The Bartender will greet guests, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients and handle basic cleaning duties. Key Responsibilities Welcome customers, listen to people to determine beverage preferences, make recommendations, and take drink orders Plan drink menus and inform customers about new beverages and specials Select and make ingredients, garnish glasses, and serve beverages to customers Check identification to ensure customers are of the legal age to purchase alcohol Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, and balance the cash register Maintain excellent service levels Continuously strive for sales growth by staying knowledgeable of all current menus Be perceptive, proactive, and engaging. Anticipate guests’ needs Set the tone for success with a positive attitude and sincere enthusiasm Engage in clear, consistent communications with leadership and restaurant staff Ensure that each customer is served efficiently and effectively Be a good example while working alongside team members Communicate restaurant and hotel promotions, local attractions, and points of interest Required Skills High levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to work well under pressure Communicate clearly, concisely, and openly Written communication in a clear and concise manner Exude high energy and demonstrate a knack for building rapport with guests and colleagues Organizational abilities and natural skill for multi-tasking, prioritizing, and anticipating needs Fluency in English, both verbally and written; proficiency in additional languages is a plus Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data Be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks Be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25lbs regularly Be able to stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to 8 hours Qualification Standards Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion Work under pressure, multi‑task, and stay focused amid constant interruptions Understand hotel operations, food and beverage knowledge, steps of service, and cash management related to selling food and beverage Perform any other duties assigned by the manager High School or equivalent preferred Previous high‑end bartender experience preferred RBS and ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or ability to obtain upon hire Physical Requirements Bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks Lifting 30lbs Stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to 8 hours Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
