Flight Test Engineer

Position Overview We are Lockheed Martin. As a Flight Test Engineer you will be responsible for leading the flight test engineering team in planning and implementing flight test program(s); coordinating test program activities with manufacturing, test site resources, engineering system specialists, and other organizations; ensuring proper configuration of the test article is specified and coordinated, as well as the proper test fixtures, sites, specialized equipment, and personnel availability to support the planned tests; creating the test cards, conducting the pre‑ and post‑test briefings, and directing and conducting the actual test mission from the control room (TD and TC). Maintain detailed specific knowledge of all aspects of the missions you are responsible for: Test Procedures, Aircraft Operating Limitations & Flight Clearance Limitations Compliance, Test Execution Package requirements and safety planning, including General Minimizing Procedures, Test Hazard Analyses, Applicable System Release Memos, and non‑standard operation/functions of the individual aircraft tail number. Oversee execution to cost, schedule, and technical requirements. Travel 50% of the time to an alternate location. Must be a US Citizen . This position is located at a facility that requires special access. Responsibilities Lead the flight test engineering team in planning and implementing flight test programs; coordinate test program activities; ensure proper configuration of test articles, fixtures, sites, and specialized equipment; create test cards; conduct pre‑ and post‑test briefings; direct and conduct actual test missions from the control room; maintain detailed knowledge of test procedures and mission limitations; oversee execution to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or technology discipline. Proven flight testing and mission control room experience working with multi‑functional test team disciplines. Experience leading multi‑functional engineering or test teams. Experience with the design and execution of test plans to evaluate aircraft performance, systems, and safety during development stages. Able to direct and conduct ground and flight tests from a Mission Control Room environment maintaining control and communication with the entire mission test team to ensure safety and adherence to test objectives. Ability to analyze flight data, identify anomalies, and provide technical recommendations to ensure regulatory compliance and improve aircraft functionality. Collaboration with pilots, engineers, and project teams to validate new technologies and certification processes. Previous TC experience. Digital Transformation Experience. CAM and EVMS experience. Excellent communication skills, including ability to brief test results to executive leadership. Security Clearance Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years. Compensation Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position varies by location: $122,900 – $216,660 in select states, and $141,300 – $244,835 in major metropolitan areas. This information is a general guideline; final compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and market conditions. Additional Information Ability to work remotely: Onsite full‑time only; work is performed at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
