Senior Clinical Pharmacist

The Senior Oncology Specialty Pharmacist is an advanced practitioner within the oncology pharmacy specialty, responsible for overseeing drug therapy across the continuum of care, monitoring cancer therapy, supportive care, pain management, and ensuring medication adherence. The role includes managing drug costs, participating in medical staff committees, and supporting various pharmacy functions such as drug distribution, information, precepting, and research. Key Responsibilities Direct and maintain drug therapy across the continuum of care. Provide focused monitoring in cancer therapy, supportive care/symptom management, and pain management. Assess and oversee medication adherence and procurement. Collect and present data on P&T restricted medications; work with the P&T Coordinator on drug use evaluations. Participate in general clinical patient care activities. Precept pharmacy students and residents and conduct clinical research. Facilitate cost containment and drug cost management in the designated therapeutic area. Participate in medical staff committees and other departmental workgroups. Minimum Qualifications California Pharmacist License, valid at the time of hire. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited pharmacy school. Completion of PGY1 training at an ASHP‑accredited program or equivalent work experience (≥3 years). PGY2 Oncology Residency or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years in a 50% oncology clinical pharmacist role). Experience directing healthcare professionals and evaluating pharmacy residents or students. Strong communication skills, independent decision‑making, and leadership of pharmacy technicians. Comprehensive knowledge of hospital practice, chemotherapy, and hazardous drug compounding. Accurate pharmacy calculations and understanding of regulations for safe handling of hazardous drugs. Preferred Qualifications Board Certification in Oncology (BCOP) or comparable specialty (e.g., Pediatrics). Experience with EPIC BEACON or a similar CPOE system for chemotherapy orders.
