Cafeteria Worker

The mission of the Poplarville School District is to serve all students by providing a high-quality education in a safe learning environment. The Cafeteria Worker is responsible to assist in preparing and serving attractive, nutritious meals to students and staff in a clean, cheerful atmosphere.

Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate well
• Good physical condition; i.e., able to stand, lift at least 40 pounds, and stoop for long periods
• Diplomatic, congenial manner; neat, well-groomed appearance

Essential Functions:

• Follow supervisor's instructions in producing, portioning and serving food
• Organize food in an attractive manner for presentation and fast service
• Serve correct portions of food to students and staff in a friendly manner
• Ensure that during meal service periods the supply of food offered is replenished
• Store all food products to assure freshness and safety
• Clean and sanitize kitchen and service work areas daily utilizing all sanitary guidelines
• Perform major cleaning of all equipment and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals as determined by the manager
• Assist with physical count of inventory, receiving of inventory and record keeping of inventory
• Maintains storeroom in orderly manner
• If cashiering, records all school lunch monetary transactions and checks/verifies lunch information
• Removes trash to pick-up area, maintains area in sanitary manner
• Must wear approved uniforms and appropriate non-skid shoes
• Any other related job duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or their designee

• Maintains appropriate professional appearance
• Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality
• Is available for team communications by email/text/voice or any other means as directed by the DNC or Designee
• Agrees to, understands, and operates under the procedures as outlined in the Child Nutrition Team's operations manual
• Participates in and completes the approved district Staff Development Program
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the immediate supervisor may from time to time assign

Evaluation:

Performance of the individual holding this job will be evaluated by this position's immediate supervisor. Evaluations will be performed annually for means of determining the re-hiring/termination at this position. Evaluations may be done several times throughout the year at the discretion of this position's immediate supervisor.

Job Specifics for Cafeteria Worker:

• Office/Room Location: Assigned Campus Cafeteria
• Scope of Work: Assigned Cafeteria's operations, preparations, distribution. Works closely with the cafeteria manager.
• Smartphone: Smartphone for use in communicating with the Child Nutrition Team. Personal use is prohibited unless an emergency.
• Payscale: This position is based on a 9 month agreement. Compensation to be established by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Trustees on an annual basis. This position is "At Will."
