About Shatterproof
Shatterproof is a national nonprofit working toward a world where addiction never defines
or ends a life. Through evidence-based programs, advocacy, and public education,
Shatterproof works to transform systems for tomorrow, support families today, and end
stigma forever. Learn more at shatterproof.org. Who Succeeds at Shatterproof
Shatterproof is in a period of transformative and rapid growth. We are building new
systems, reimagining how work gets done, and creating more cross-functional alignment to
accelerate our mission.
To thrive here, you should be energized by building, not just maintaining - and excited to
bring structure, clarity, and innovation to evolving spaces.
We're looking for team members who:
• Build systems and processes from the ground up and improve them continuously as we scale.
• Take ownership and act with a builder's mindset, bringing forward solutions rather than waiting for direction.
• Influence and collaborate across teams, shaping work through strong communication and relationship-building.
• Move quickly, learn fast, and adapt with resilience, especially in a high-growth, high-impact environment.
• Are mission-driven and motivated to leave their mark on an organization working to reverse the addiction crisis. The Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropic Investment, the Director, Institutional Giving will help lead and evolve Shatterproof's institutional fundraising strategy, with a focus on foundation and grant-based revenue growth. This role is both strategic and externally facing, responsible for building a strong pipeline of institutional funding opportunities, deepening funder relationships, and helping shape a modern institutional giving strategy aligned to Shatterproof's long-term growth priorities. Working closely with the VP, Philanthropic Investment, this leader will help identify emerging funding opportunities, develop multi-year engagement strategies, strengthen institutional positioning, and expand philanthropic investment across national, regional, and mission-aligned foundations. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and strong executor - someone who combines relationship-building, proposal development, and pipeline strategy with the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Partner with the VP, Philanthropic Investment to help shape and execute Shatterproof's institutional giving strategy and long-term revenue growth plans
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of foundation and institutional funding opportunities aligned to organizational priorities
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward institutional funders, including private foundations and select public funding opportunities
• Develop strategic engagement plans for institutional prospects and existing funders
• Lead development of compelling grant proposals, reports, concept notes, and stewardship materials
• Partner cross-functionally with program, finance, marketing, and leadership teams to shape funding opportunities and translate impact into compelling investment cases
• Track proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, pipeline movement, and revenue forecasting
• Help strengthen institutional fundraising systems, prospect management practices, and donor engagement strategies
• Maintain accurate donor and pipeline records within Salesforce or comparable CRM systems
• Contribute to broader philanthropic investment and organizational growth planning IDEAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-8+ years of institutional fundraising, foundation relations, or grant strategy experience
• Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure grants and institutional partnerships
• Proven ability to build pipeline and develop new funding opportunities
• Strong strategic thinking and revenue planning capabilities
• Exceptional writing, communication, and storytelling skills
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
• Experience managing complex proposal and reporting processes
• Ability to translate mission impact into compelling funding opportunities
• Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset
