Engineering Manager
Margaritaville Hotel Nashville
Behind every great stay is a hotel that works the way it should—and that's where our Engineering team comes in.
The Engineering Manager, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer helps leads the team responsible for keeping Margaritaville Hotel Nashville safe, comfortable, well-maintained, and ready for our guests and team members every day. From HVAC and electrical systems to preventative maintenance, guest requests, life-safety systems, and everything in between, you'll help keep the property running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows their way around a toolbox, takes pride in solving problems, and enjoys developing a team. You'll balance day-to-day repairs and maintenance with long-term planning, preventative maintenance, budgeting, vendor relationships, and compliance. Most importantly, you'll help create a team culture where people take pride in their work and understand that what they do directly impacts the guest experience.
What You'll Do
- In conjunction with the Chief Engineer Lead the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department and serve as a hands-on resource for the team.
- Lead, train, coach, and develop Engineering team members so they have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to do their jobs safely and effectively.
- Maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment where people feel supported, respected, and empowered to take ownership.
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure scheduled maintenance is completed accurately and on time.
- Inspect the hotel, equipment, mechanical systems, guest areas, and back-of-house spaces regularly to identify maintenance needs, potential hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
- Respond promptly to guest and team member maintenance requests, prioritizing issues based on safety, urgency, and guest impact.
- Ensure all life-safety systems and critical building systems are operational and meet applicable requirements.
- Respond to life-safety alarms and other urgent building or equipment issues as needed.
- Coordinate and oversee outside engineering vendors and service providers, including contracts, scheduling, and quality of work.
- Monitor parts, supplies, labor, and other departmental expenses to ensure responsible use of resources and alignment with the department budget.
- Assist with the preparation and management of the Engineering department budget, forecasts, purchase orders, and capital improvement projects.
- Evaluate repair and replacement needs and make recommendations based on safety, operational needs, guest impact, and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records related to inspections, licenses, contracts, preventative maintenance, work orders, and other required documentation.
- Ensure Engineering staff follow applicable safety, EPA, HazCom, OSHA, and hotel procedures.
- Maintain appropriate security and key-control procedures within the department.
- Order, receive, and maintain appropriate levels of parts, tools, supplies, and materials.
- Keep Engineering workspaces, storage areas, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Communicate regularly with hotel leadership and other departments regarding maintenance projects, operational concerns, and property needs.
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to quickly address issues that impact guests or operations.
- Participate in hotel meetings, safety initiatives, and special projects.
- Perform the essential functions of positions within the Engineering department when needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned, including cross-training and supporting other areas of the hotel.
What We're Looking For
- 2–3 years of experience in hotel, institutional, commercial, or related engineering/facilities environments preferred.
- 2–3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
- HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or related trade experience required.
- HVAC certification, refrigeration certification, or journeyman-level experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of building systems, life-safety systems, preventative maintenance, and general engineering practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach and develop a diverse team.
- Basic computer and administrative skills, including the ability to maintain records, work orders, schedules, and departmental documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, vendors, and hotel leadership.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English effectively.
- Must meet applicable age requirements for the position and jurisdiction.
- Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
What Success Looks Like

- Bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and step stools and maintaining balance while doing so.
- Using hand tools, power tools, equipment, and other maintenance-related materials.
- Reaching overhead and extending arms to perform repairs or retrieve supplies.
- Pushing and pulling equipment and materials weighing up to approximately 100 pounds.
- Lifting and carrying items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds regularly and equipment weighing up to approximately 150 pounds when appropriate assistance or equipment is available.
- Performing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and general maintenance tasks.
Work Environment & Safety
The Engineering Manager may work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the hotel, including areas with heat, cold, humidity, dust, noise, machinery, chemicals, fumes, and vibrations.
Proper personal protective equipment and safe work practices are required at all times and may include safety footwear, gloves, safety goggles, hearing protection, protective clothing, respiratory protection, and other equipment appropriate for the task.
Safety isn't just part of the job—it's part of taking care of our guests, our team, and our home away from home.
