Bilingual Lead Medical Coordinator_JOR

The Lead Medical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing health services as well as coordinating the provision of timely, appropriate health services for children in care. Lead Medical Coordinators supervise Medical Coordinators and provide appropriate staff training on medical, dental, and public health topics relevant to pediatrics, adolescent, and migrant health. They are responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures for confidential health record management, triage of health concerns, medical emergency response, environmental health and safety, and post-release health care planning/care coordination.

Responsibilities include performing work consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's mission, values, and philosophies; providing children with a positive and appropriate medical environment; overseeing health services; supervising other Medical Coordinators; developing and maintaining policies and procedures for health record management; ensuring confidentiality of health records; ensuring appropriate communication of health needs; supporting in scheduling health care appointments; assisting in transportation of children to and from health care appointments; assisting in obtaining medical clearances; preparing Treatment Authorization Requests; ensuring qualified interpretation and translation services; participating in intakes and discharges of children; collaborating with cross-functional teams and healthcare providers; reporting medical emergencies; elevating issues of medical concern; supporting foster parents; collecting forms and health records; completing and submitting documentation; maintaining medicine cabinets and first aid kits; providing in-service training and ongoing education; assisting during auditing processes; and performing other duties as requested.

Minimum qualifications include being a licensed registered nurse with a Bachelor's or higher health-related education qualification, bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care, (1) year of experience working in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting, valid driver's license, excellent driving record, a safe and clean personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance, and proficiency in using computers, smart phones, tablets, printers, fax machines, photocopiers, and software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.

Other skills include experience scheduling medical appointments, experience documenting medical appointments, recognizing and understanding the needs of the immigrant population, maintaining liaisons with community health providers, and being open to and willing to work non-traditional hours and be available for on-call phone consultations as needed.

Physical demands include use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity, use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, sustained visual and mental applications and demands, occasional lifting, ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, and reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
