Sonographer MFM (Per Diem)

Overview Pediatrix Medical Group has an exciting Per Diem opportunity for a Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our team at one of our Maternal Fetal Medicine clinics in Fayetteville, GA . Responsibilities Provide diagnostic ultrasound for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. Work independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. Assist perinatologists with procedures and provide preliminary reports. Perform detailed fetal anatomical surveys, including twins and triplets. Assist physicians with amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling. Accurately document exam findings, measurements, images, and procedural details. Record patient history, indications, and observations per departmental protocols. Generate clear preliminary reports for interpreting physician review. Review completed studies with interpreting physicians to communicate findings. Ensure documentation is complete, timely, and compliant with policies, accreditation, and patient safety standards. Select appropriate exam types, procedures, and codes for accurate reporting and billing. Escort patients and families to and from examination rooms courteously. Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, verify identity, review history, and ensure comfort and privacy. Explain complex procedures to patients and families and provide reassurance throughout the exam. Obtain appropriate consent or declinations. Maintain proper operation of ultrasound equipment and take corrective action when needed. Maintain inventory of ultrasound supplies. Follow accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining images. Adhere to universal precautions, OSHA standards, and safety training. Rotate to other locations as needed to cover Sonographer absences. Perform related and other assigned duties as directed. Education & Qualifications Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent, at least two years in an allied health educational program and one year on‑job training in ultrasonography, or equivalent. Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS). ARDMS OB/GYN or Fetal Echo (FE) certified or eligible to obtain within 12 months of hire. Provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements. NT experience or certification preferred. CPR certification preferred. Experience Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred. Skills & Abilities Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment. Can react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues in providing care, acting in a non‑directive, non‑judgmental manner.
