Database Engineer - (GC-2/3)

Database Engineer Location: Hanover, MD. Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI w/ Polygraph. Salary Range: $175,000–$205,000, depending on experience. Contact: View email address on click.appcast.io What You Will Do The Database Engineer will provide both engineering and administration support. The focus will be on data optimization, large data sets, and Oracle efficiency. The role includes optimizing an Oracle system for peak performance, shaping how massive data types are processed, stored, and leveraged, technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, data flow and analysis, and building relational and/or object‑oriented databases, parser and loading software, and cloud‑based data storage retrieval. Responsibilities The DBE works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC). Develops requirements from project inception to conclusion for a particular IT subject area, assists with recommendations, analysis, evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance. Translates requirements into usable documents by creating or recreating ad‑hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; builds complex systems using queries, tables, ODBC and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies. Minimum Qualifications Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL Experience in both database engineering and database administration Experience with data optimization, large data sets, and organization of data IAT Level 2 Certification required at start date At least five (5) years experience as a Database Engineer A bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required. Five (5) years of equivalent experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree for a total of ten (10) years of experience.
