The Shipping Supervisor is the person who makes sure that happens. You'll lead the shipping team, own the processes that protect finished product from the floor to the customer's door, and drive the kind of continuous improvement that makes a supply chain genuinely competitive. What You'll Do You’ll supervise the shipping department end-to-end — planning daily, weekly, and future work assignments, directing your team so every schedule is met, and ensuring parts are protected, handled, and shipped in full compliance with customer‑specific requirements, regulatory standards, and GTC internal procedures. When documentation needs to be perfect — bills of lading, packing lists, shipping labels — you make sure it is. When discrepancies, damages, or delays surface, you resolve them fast and put measures in place so they don’t happen twice. You’ll coordinate GTC vehicle activity to move material efficiently between facilities and to and from suppliers, negotiate with carriers to keep shipping costs optimized, and identify waste wherever it exists in the process. You’ll maintain a pictorial volume of customer‑required and GTC‑initiated packaging and preservation methods, perform annual vehicle safety inspections, and serve as backup to the Purchasing and Receiving Department when outside‑service procurement needs attention. Your people are a core part of the job. You’ll cross‑train your team so the department never has a single point of failure, recognize outstanding performance loudly and in writing, and handle disciplinary matters with the consistency and fairness every employee deserves. You’ll bring a continuous improvement mindset to everything — always looking for the better process, the smarter workflow, and the step that shouldn't be there. What You Bring Five or more years of progressive achievement in transportation, logistics, or associated management is the foundation. You know shipping software and inventory management systems, understand industry regulations, and bring the organizational skills to keep a fast‑moving department running without dropping anything. A high school diploma or GED is required, and U.S. citizenship is required for this role. Beyond the credentials, you’re a leader who builds consensus, communicates clearly in every direction, and solves problems by establishing real courses of action — not workarounds. You’re firm and fair with your team, collaborative with the departments around you, and the kind of supervisor who steps in when help is needed and expects the same from the people you lead.
