Bus DriverMust have a valid Type B commercial driver's license with a passenger and school bus endorsementHigh school diploma or equivalentCertificate issued by State Department of EducationMust meet all physical and mental health requirements as established by Mississippi law and the Jackson Public School BoardMust be insurable by district insurance carrierMust pass police record checkMust be able to perform duties accurately when in stressful situationsPass drug screening test as outlined by district policyReports To: Transportation SupervisorObeys all traffic lawsMaintains discipline when students are on bus, within legal limitsObserves all mandatory safety regulations for school buses, both district and stateReports undisciplined students to the proper authority with proper formsOperates on assigned scheduleKeeps assigned bus cleanChecks bus before each operation for mechanical defectsNotifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or latenessDischarges students only at authorized stopsExercises responsible leadership when on school trips in or out of districtTransports only authorized studentsReports all accidents and completes required reportsEnforces all district and state regulations regarding student behavior on bus; example, smoking, eating, being in seat while bus is in motionIs courteous to coworkers, students, and administratorsIs promptPerforms other related duties as requested or assignedSalary Information: Days Employed: 187 per school yearHourly Rate: $20.50Application Information: Deadline: Until positions are filledEmployment Date: As soon as possible thereafter
