Travel Surgical Tech/ORT - Certified Surgical Technologist/CST

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position requiring NBSTSA certification and 2 years of surgical tech experience.

• Hospital Operating Room setting,
• 3x12hr Day shifts, 0645-1915, Monday-Friday, no set day off,
• Weekend call and holiday shifts required,
• Epic EMR used,

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience,
• 1 year of scrubbing experience,
• 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital preferred,
• 1 year of experience in the specialty being submitted for required,
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist credential required,
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required, must not expire prior to start,
• CO state license (DORA) required if applicable,
• Completion of an accredited ORT program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past 6 months, or 2 years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last 3 years,
• Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery preferred,
• Ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety,
• Ability to recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes,
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations,

Additional Information

• Function as a member of the surgical team to ensure safe and successful operative procedures,
• Work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management,
• Maintain accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria,
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures,
• Assist surgeons during procedures while staying within ORT scope of practice,
• Assist with sterile processing as needed,
• Exercise judgement to identify and respond to emergency situations,
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure,
• Participate in the surgical operations safety plan,
• Permanent staff must be separated from any facility within this health system for at least one year before being eligible for a travel assignment
