Program Support Assistant
VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
Summary The Program Support Assistant is in the Environmental Management Service, under the Environmental Chief and Environmental Management Services, and is responsible for administrative support to the Chief, Assistant Chief, Administrative Officer (AO), Environmental of Care Specialists by providing a variety of complex administrative management services essential to the operation and direction of the Environment Management Service. Learn more about this agency Duties Help Major duties include, but not limited to:
- Prepares and gives oral presentations on assigned project's objectives and status for Nursing Service, such as labor mapping, overtime usage, trending data and leave patterns.
- Works with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy of data related to staffing entered/submitted and in the analysis of information/reports from the various VA and other national databases in use.
- Maintains a liaison with all services in the medical center in order to design studies which are reflective of the cross correlation between research items involving nursing service and other departmental common interest and issues.
- Reviews and analyzes computer generated reports on a routine basis to verify the accuracy of the data, noting trends, and analyzing variances.
- Performs monthly and quarterly report summaries which are submitted to nursing management for review. Performs studies and special projects when requested by management.

- To be considered for this position, you must complete all required steps in the process. In addition to the application and questionnaire, this position requires an online assessment. The online assessment measures critical general competencies required to perform the job.

- Physical Requirements: The work required does not inherently include any physical requirements essential for successful job performance that could not otherwise be performed with accommodation or workplace adjustment. The work is mainly sedentary. However, there will be walking, standing, bending, and carrying and lifting of light items such as packages, office supplies and books, generally of not more than 25 pounds. A pre-placement physical examination is not required.

Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements ( Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)

- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including drafting correspondence, preparing meeting notes, and interacting with staff and leadership at all levels.
- Experienced in scheduling, calendar management, and coordinating appointments and meetings for individuals or teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other office applications for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and email/calendar management.
- Experienced in records management, including electronic and paper filing, document organization, and general administrative support tasks.
- Experienced in timekeeping systems and suspense tracking, ensuring accurate records, monitoring deadlines, and timely follow-up on action items.
