TEACHER CONSULTANT

Salary: $48,252 - $75,969/In Accordance with the CLEA Master Agreement Reports To: Building Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS

Must Possess a Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate for the Appropriate Grade Level. Master’s degree in education or a field of study related to special education. Must hold Teacher Consultant Endorsement (includes 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience). Must have an endorsement in at least one area of special education. Experience with K-12 Students. Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic testing. Ability to clearly communicate assessment results and collaborate with general education teachers regarding classroom modifications and differentiation of curriculum. Knowledge of the Common Core and grade level expectations and the ability to work with general education staff provide curriculum modifications for students with IEP’s. Knowledge and experience with Assistive Technology. Knowledge and experience with behavioral difficulties, including Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans. Ability to work with general and special education staff to service caseload students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Early Childhood PK-K (ZA) Endorsement. Learning Disabilities (SM) Endorsement. Experience with ECSE students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide individualized and small-group instruction and co‑teaching for identified classrooms. Coordinate and schedule IEP’s for caseload students. Participate in multi‑disciplinary evaluations and behavior intervention planning. Provide written reports for student evaluations and caseload student’s annual assessments. Provide consultation for general education in the areas of classroom modifications and differentiating the curriculum. Provide consultation for K-12 as assigned. Provide guidance and support to building special education teams for individual students. Assist in the coordination of state and local assessment. Assist in transition IEP’s and Secondary Transition Activities. Provide communication to parents, teachers, and administration regarding caseload student’s needs and program planning.
