Commissioning Manager Americas

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the CO&I the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsofts cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex multi-disciplinary large scale multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the worlds largest online services.

The COI Commissioning team is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity for COI. Through development of leading program management and construction processes this team is chartered with managing workflow across vertically and horizontally aligned project managers and virtual teams to successfully deliver multi-million-dollar multi-year data center construction programs.

As a Site Commissioning Manager - Americas you will work with data center architects engineers construction managers network engineers data center operations teams and finance teams to streamline and improve data center capacity delivery. You will execute against scope schedule and budget to deliver the latest generation of data center technology to Microsofts Online Services. You shall be responsible for ensuring the project is commissioned in accordance with Microsofts standards and directly manage the process for projects in the LaPorte IN metro area and support other Commissioning Projects in other Regions.

Must be capable of performing work in the field on a construction project.

1. Business Processes

1. Direct report ingto the COI Sub-Region Commissioning Lead

1. Primary responsibility for assigned metro commissioning projects with secondary responsibility for other COI commissioningprojects for the region

1. Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions.

1. Manage the contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to Data Center construction projects in the assigned metro;LaPorte IN.

1. Development of Commissioning Procedures and Standards.

1. Construction site inspections to review Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) and commissioning process.

1. Drive the project Commissioning process including scope and schedule.

1. Communications

1. Regularly reviews Construction Progress QA/QC Commissioning progress issues and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics to report to management.

1. Coordinate meetings and activities of vendor project managers including integration of lessons learned.

1. Manage client representatives and partners to define and align on scope schedule and budget.

1. Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings and reportas necessary.

1. Report Project Progress on scope schedule and budget weekly or as required.

1. Accountability

1. Responsible for developing managing and reporting on scope schedule of the Commissioning Process for COI Projects.

1. Manage the Commissioning process for assigned metro projects ;LaPorte IN.

1. Reporting of the Commissioning process to management on a regular basis.

1. Work independently in support of the COI Program.

1. Inspections and management of on-going testing processes in the field in a construction environment.

1. Strategy and Development

1. Manage data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the COI road map strategy.

1. Refine practices/policies and develop methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of commissioning procedures.

1. Provides input into a long-term delivery strategy and incorporates requirements into the project execution plans.

1. Vendor Management and contract compliance

1. Provide Vendor oversight and performance management (Scorecard driven).

1. Preparation of R e quests F o r P r oposal P r oject E xpenditureReports and other project approval tools & templates.

Required/minimum qualifications

• Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Engineering Reliability Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field AND 2 years technical engineering experience
• OR Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Engineering Reliability Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field AND 4 years technical engineering experience
• OR Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Materials Engineering Reliability Engineering Electrical Engineering or related field AND 5 years technical engineering experience
• OR 12 years relevant technical engineering experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Reliability Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119800 - $234700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160200 - $261000 per year.
