Classroom Assistant

Position Summary:

• Manages a YSLLP middle school classroom on select days

• Tutors students

• Occasionally assist with student recruitment for YSLLP programming

• Collects data

Responsibilities:

• Checks attendance every period and maintains accurate records in YSLPP room

• Checks school attendance against YSLPP attendance and reports discrepancies to the main office

• Maintains orderly environment

• Tutors students in math, science and all other core subjects

• Occasionally coordinates/participates in community service activities and keeps accurate records for each student's community service hours

• May perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree required, pursuing secondary education certification or Master's degree preferred

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to tutor middle school subject levels

• Multi-tasking

• Strong organizational skills

• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Ability to relate to students of all ages and ethnic groups

• Strong computer skills

• Possession of a valid U.S. drivers license that will meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria, preferred

Supervisory Responsibility:

• On-site tutors

Driving Responsibility:

• This position may occasionally involve travel using a University owned or University rented vehicle
