Software Test Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Software Test Engineer in Manhattan Beach, CA for a 17-month onsite contract role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Software Test Engineer will test embedded software for flight, space, and ground systems operating in resource-constrained environments with soft and hard real-time requirements. This role focuses on software testing, automated test systems, formal verification, process verification, and requirements sell-off for embedded flight software. The position requires C/C++ software development experience, software testing experience, and familiarity with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or Linux.

Required Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• C/C++ software development experience.
• Experience with automated software testing.
• Experience with software testing and process verification.
• Experience with formal verification processes following TLYF methodology to sell off embedded flight software requirements.
• Experience testing functional and performance requirements.
• Familiarity with processors, memory, and I/O architectures.
• Ability to work with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or Linux and related development environments.
• Experience working across the software development lifecycle for automated test sets or test systems on space programs.
• Experience working in a process-oriented environment using waterfall, spiral, or Agile processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a lab environment with engineers from multiple disciplines.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Preferred Skills
• Active Secret clearance.
• Embedded Linux experience.
• VxWorks or Wind River VxWorks experience.
• Full-time employment experience as a software engineer.
• Experience with software systems that include data analysis, data routing, or control systems algorithms.

What You'll Do
• Test embedded software for flight, space, and ground systems.
• Support automated software testing and process verification activities.
• Support formal verification and requirements sell-off for embedded flight software.
• Design, develop, document, test, and debug application software and systems.
• Analyze system capabilities and help resolve software issues related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, equipment designers, and other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare operating instructions and develop utility programs as needed.
• Support software standards and verification requirements.
• Work with real-time operating systems and associated development tools.

• 9/80A schedule.

Pay
• $79.84 per hour
