Job Summary

The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays a vital role in assisting staff members with the implementation of comprehensive resident/patient care plans. This includes support in activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, personal care, toileting, education, recreation, and transportation, adhering to established policies, procedures, and nursing standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents/patients with daily activities including feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
• Demonstrate effective listening skills to support resident/patient needs.
• Take initial vital signs and provide timely weight measurements to nursing staff.
• Report changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
• Follow procedures for Universal Precautions consistently.
• Monitor and accurately record resident/patient intake and output per unit standards or physician orders.
• Maintain confidentiality concerning resident/patient information and support their rights.
• Foster productive working relationships with healthcare team members.
• Deliver care promptly and accurately as directed by the RN/LPN, following the established plan of care.
• Assist with orientation of patients/residents and their families to the unit, facility, and available services.
• Remain empathetic towards residents, patients, and families, while maintaining objectivity in challenging situations.
• Demonstrate flexibility and seek assistance in problem-solving when necessary.
• Exhibit a passion for working with long-term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to ensure high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active C.N.A License in the state of Maine.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
