Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Wheeling, West Virginia. This role involves caring for patients recovering from anesthesia across various clinical settings, including inpatient and outpatient recovery rooms, surgery centers, and anesthesia clinics. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment. The position offers a dynamic work environment with rotating shifts and a focus on efficient patient recovery.

Job Details:

• Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
• Shift: Predominately 3, 12-hour shifts; flexibility for 8-hour or 10-hour shifts if department needs are met. Start times vary.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Minimum experience of 2 years in a related role. Valid license to submit, willing to wait for license approval.
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with weekend and holiday call rotations.
• Additional Information:
  • Weekend call: One 24-hour shift per month from 7am-7am.
  • Weekly call: Two additional overnight shifts from 11pm-7am per month.
  • Scrubs are provided for all areas except the Anesthesia Clinic, which requires staff to provide their own Navy Blue scrubs.
  • Float: PACU nurses will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as in surgery center and anesthesia clinic as needed.
  • Common recovery cases include general, neuro, thoracic, and interventional procedures. ICU patients are recovered in the PACU, except for open heart surgeries.
  • Charting System: Allscripts.
  • Shift Notes: 8am-6pm, 9am-7pm, and possibly 10am-8pm, with no call required during scheduled shifts.
  • Cancellation policy: Two shifts per 13-week contract.
