Registered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Job Summary:

The Step-Down RN provides specialized care for patients with complex medical conditions, such as cardiac and respiratory issues, in a high-acuity unit. The role involves monitoring patient stability, administering treatments, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Monitor and assess patients' cardiac, respiratory, and neurological status regularly.
  
  
• 
  Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products according to protocols.
  
  
• 
  Manage airway devices including BiPAP, CPAP, and Vapotherm; assist with chest tube procedures.
  
  
• 
  Interpret EKG/ECG readings and manage cardiac dysrhythmias promptly.
  
  
• 
  Conduct neurovascular checks and post-procedure monitoring, including post-heart cath care.
  
  
• 
  Follow infection control practices, including PPE use and isolation precautions.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a Step-Down unit or similar setting.
  
  
• 
  Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
  
  
• 
  Proficient in cardiac/respiratory monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and EKG interpretation.
  
  
• 
  Skilled in IV start, maintenance, PICC line management, and emergency medication administration.
  
  
• 
  Strong understanding of post-vascular and post-cardiac procedure care.
  
  
• 
  Able to work 12-hour day shifts on a 3x12 schedule.
