Custodian I

Custodian I performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance tasks for assigned buildings and grounds in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition. Recruitment will remain open until a sufficient number of qualified applications are received. Application filing period may close at any time. The current recruitment process is primarily focused on hiring substitute Custodians (temporary/as-needed basis paid at the first step of the salary range). Permanent opportunities may also become available at a later time and will include salary increases. Positions are 8 hours per day and 12 months per year. Work shifts are primarily during the hours of 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Night differential pay is added to the hourly pay rate.

Examples of duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, washing windows and walls, cleaning restrooms, and operating custodial cleaning equipment. The position requires following schedules and procedures, performing physical activities, and understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions.
