Facility Overview
This is a 30-bed rehabilitation hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin, with an average daily census of 28 patients; a busy and well-utilized facility. The pharmacy team consists of 2 pharmacists and 1 technician. No chemotherapy compounding is involved; however, some limited experience with IV compounding is needed. The pharmacy is expanding its hours to 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM with the addition of this position, making this a genuinely impactful hire for the team.

Responsibilities

-Provide afternoon and evening pharmacy coverage from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM
-Verify and process medication orders accurately and efficiently using Wellsky
-Manage Pyxis automated dispensing systems throughout the facility
-Perform limited IV compounding in compliance with USP standards — no chemotherapy involved
-Consult with physicians and nurses on medication therapy and patient care needs
-Share on-call responsibilities with the pharmacy manager as needed
-Ensure safe medication dispensing and regulatory compliance throughout all operations
-Collaborate with the rehabilitation care team to optimize patient medication outcomes

Experience

-Hospital pharmacy experience required
-IV compounding experience required — limited scope, no chemotherapy
-Rehabilitation hospital experience a plus
-WellSky experience preferred
-Pyxis experience preferred

-Strong clinical judgment in a smaller hospital environment
-Comfortable working afternoon and evening shifts
-Reliable and collaborative team member
-Effective communicator with physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation care staff
- Comfortable sharing on-call responsibilities

Qualifications

-Active Wisconsin Pharmacist License required, or willing to obtain
-Wisconsin offers an Act 10 temporary credential allowing pharmacists licensed in good standing in another state to begin working immediately while their full Wisconsin license processes
