ICU RN

The Level 3 ICU Registered Nurse (RN) working night shifts is responsible for providing specialized critical care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role requires expertise in managing complex patients including those with external ventricular drains, multiple medication drips, trauma cases, hypothermia treatment, and chest tube drainage. The RN will perform comprehensive patient assessments, utilize EMR systems, and adhere to strict infection control protocols. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and adherence to hospital critical care standards are essential. A minimum of three years ICU experience and current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU during night shifts.
• Manage patients with external ventricular drains (EVD), multiple medication drips, and trauma of varying severity.
• Perform patient assessments using CAM, CPOT, and RASS tools.
• Administer care for patients undergoing hypothermia treatment and manage pleurevac chest tube drainage.
• Utilize Hemosphere Flotrac and PCA pumps effectively.
• Document patient care and clinical data accurately using Allscript EMR.
• Adhere strictly to isolation precautions, hand hygiene protocols, and critical care standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Float to Surgical ICU (SICU) and Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) as needed.

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in New York State or by reciprocity.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited nursing school.
• Minimum of 3 years ICU nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required at start.
• Proficiency in critical care nursing skills and patient assessment tools (CAM, CPOT, RASS).
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, specifically Allscript EMR.

• Certification in CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred but not required.

• Strict adherence to isolation precautions and infection control including hand washing and use of sanitizer.
• Must be willing and able to float to SICU and IMCU units as needed.
• Compliance with hospital policies and critical care practice guidelines is mandatory.

• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Minimum guaranteed 35 hours per week.
• Work every other weekend and holidays as required.
• Facility pays regular overtime and holiday pay when applicable.
