Work Environment

The Physical Therapy Assistant role is performed onsite at our modern hospital facility in Suffolk, VA. You will work directly with patients in a supportive team environment, collaborating closely with Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals. Our facility is equipped with advanced rehabilitation technology and resources, allowing you to conduct effective treatments and monitor patient progress seamlessly within an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. Key Responsibilities

• Implement and execute individualized treatment plans as established by supervising Physical Therapists, focusing on therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and rehabilitation modalities.
• Instruct patients on appropriate physical therapy activities, ensuring they are comfortable and safe using equipment such as resistance bands, therapy balls, and treadmills.
• Monitor patients' responses to treatment, documenting progress and making informed suggestions for modifications based on their specific needs and medical statuses.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education on care plans and progress while addressing any concerns as directed by the supervising therapist.
• Complete meticulous patient care and billing documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and signed off by the supervising Physical Therapist for compliance and efficiency.
• Act as a crucial liaison and advocate for patients, ensuring a coherent flow of information between patients, their families, and the therapy team.
• Attend team meetings and participate actively in ongoing professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support department operations and patient care initiatives.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work primarily with diverse patient populations, including individuals recovering from surgery, athletes striving to enhance their performance, and cancer patients requiring specialized rehabilitation programs. Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• State licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in oncology rehabilitation is highly desired.
• Certification as a Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) or a willingness to pursue this certification.
• Familiarity with specialized therapeutic equipment and rehabilitation software.

Compensation and Benefits
