Outpatient Psychiatrist N Cobb

Position Overview Wellstar Medical Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Outpatient Psychiatrist to join the dynamic team at the North Cobb location. This is a full-time position where you will provide high-quality psychiatric care to a diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of mental health disorders. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, psychotherapy, or other therapeutic interventions. Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring efficacy and side effects, and adjusting treatment as needed. Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, social workers, nurses, and primary care physicians, to coordinate care and optimize outcomes. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes using Wellstar’s electronic medical record system (Epic). Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms. Provide crisis intervention services as needed, including risk assessment of patients with suicidal or homicidal ideation. Offer psychiatric consultations to other medical professionals within the Wellstar system on complex cases. Participate in continuing education, attend conferences, and engage in peer consultations to stay current with advancements in psychiatry. Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards and Wellstar policies. Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Completed residency in Psychiatry from an accredited program. Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Georgia. Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry. Prior experience in outpatient psychiatric care is preferred but not required. Strong clinical skills and excellent communication abilities.
