Population Health Clinical IS Analyst (Epic)-Associate

Population Health Epic Associate Analyst supports the configuration and optimization of Epic’s Population Health tools—primarily Healthy Planet and Compass Rose—which enable healthcare organizations to proactively manage patient populations through registries, care gap tracking, quality metrics, and value-based care initiatives. This hybrid role, based in San Antonio, partners with clinical, operational, and IT teams to improve workflows and leverage data to drive better patient outcomes. Under direct supervision, the analyst supports Epic ambulatory applications, providing tier‑one support, assisting with build and implementation efforts, and contributing to key initiatives while managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced, agile environment. The role requires collaboration across teams, professional interaction with leadership, faculty, staff, and vendors, and adherence to internal procedures and governance standards. Candidates with a clinical background are preferred, and prior experience as an Epic end user or trainer is ideal to help translate real‑world clinical needs into effective system solutions. Ideal candidates are self‑starters who are detail‑oriented, adaptable, and eager to learn and grow within healthcare IT and Epic systems. Responsibilities Work with requestors and users to understand and document current workflow and propose optimized workflows for planned application changes. Present recommended system enhancement opportunities and creative technical solutions, including prototypes of application configuration options for approval by project requestors. Perform ongoing maintenance and configuration updates to Epic applications. With supervision, create test scripts, timelines, and plans for application and workflow changes; perform actual testing of clinical information system configuration, coordinate and participate in user testing. Provide tier‑one support to end‑users remotely and in‑person, monitor, investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve incoming tickets, serve as liaison between users and vendors, coordinate system fixes and changes with vendors, and coordinate the deployment of application changes with the training team and operations. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Strong written and verbal communication skills. Critical and analytical thinking proficiencies. Organizational management skills and ability to multitask. Basic project management skills. Education Bachelor’s degree (4 years of comparable experience may be substituted). Experience Preferred: Epic certification/proficiency in any module. Additional Licenses / Certifications Epic certification must be maintained per Epic Corporation standards within 1.5 years of hire. This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO‑GA‑48.
