An Ophthalmic Medical Technician supports ophthalmologists by performing patient screenings, conducting diagnostic tests, and preparing patients for eye examinations and procedures. This role requires proficiency with ophthalmic tools, electronic health records, and software specific to eye care. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring accurate data collection and patient education while maintaining a smooth clinical workflow without travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient screening and visual acuity testing
• Perform diagnostic testing using ophthalmic equipment
• Prepare patients for ophthalmologic exams and procedures
• Educate patients on eye care procedures and post-care instructions
• Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and treatments
• Utilize electronic health records and ophthalmic software for documentation
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records as a scribe

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in ophthalmic medical assisting
• Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic testing and visual acuity measurement
• Experience in patient care and basic ophthalmic equipment operation
• Familiarity with medical terminology and infection control protocols
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Effective time management skills
