Purchasing Buyer Knoxville, TN, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1843 SUMMARY Responsible to identify, evaluate, and contract with suppliers to acquire goods or services, focusing on cost reduction, quality assurance, and supply chain efficiency. Analyze market trends, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to optimize procurement. Key responsibilities include analyzing spend data, managing contracts, and mitigating risks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery capabilities. Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms to secure the best value, including managing purchase orders. Strategic Sourcing: Develop sourcing strategies to reduce costs and optimize the supply chain. Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and industry developments to inform purchasing decisions. Performance Monitoring: Track supplier performance using KPIs to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards. Inventory & Data Management: Maintain records of items, costs, and deliveries; manage catalog content and inventory levels. Review attrition rates and current trends to head off problems. Work with Engineering/Production/Program Management for accurate data and understanding. Responsible for successful, on-time program launches. Recommend/Lead projects to reduce cost for direct materials. Update vendor specific data in MRP System Review and approve purchasing documents for adequacy of specified requirements prior to release. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Reviews invoice discrepancies for payment. Track ALL cost changes, submit for review and approval with Accounting, Business Development, and Customers as applicable. Oversight of supplier forecasts and ensure understanding and commitment from suppliers to secure products needed to support ATC Program Management/Production Department Utilize ATC Tools to maintain correct quantities of inventory to support daily production and program launch materials Work with suppliers to improve performance; quality and on-time delivery Develop/Maintain listing of \"At Risk\" parts and suppliers Responsible for adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions of the quality management systems. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Education: A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance, or a related field. Skills: Strong negotiation skills, analytical abilities, strategic thinking, and proficiency in ERP or procurement software. Experience: Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles. Experience in remanufacturing preferred. Experience with Automotive purchasing/sourcing preferred. Computer proficiency. Effective communication with all position levels. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Must be able to read and understand English. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
