Industrial Millwright / Machinery Rigger – Manufacturing Equipment Installation

Location: Fall River, MA / Nationwide Travel
Schedule: Full-Time + Overtime
Travel: Typically 11-Day Rotations
Compensation: Competitive Pay + Per Diem + Benefits

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Millwright / Machinery Rigger to install, relocate, assemble, align, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial manufacturing machinery . You will work in active production facilities and support equipment projects from delivery or disassembly through positioning, assembly, leveling, anchoring, precision alignment , and startup.

Experience with machinery in paper and pulp, plastics, blown film, textiles , or other manufacturing environments is welcome. Strong hands-on machine installation and mechanical troubleshooting skills matter more than experience in a particular industry. Experience with wire and cable production equipment is a plus.

This role focuses on manufacturing machinery. It is not primarily a conveyor-installation, oil-field rigging, or heavy-crane-rigging position.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, relocate, assemble, and commission industrial machinery and production equipment according to OEM drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly prints, OEM manuals, and field sketches.
• Set, level, and anchor equipment on foundations, structural steel, and machine bases; install anchors and grout as required.
• Install and align motors, gearboxes, reducers, shafts, couplings, sheaves, sprockets, belts, chains, bearings, and other power transmission components .
• Perform laser shaft alignment and dial-indicator alignment; identify and correct soft foot and related conditions.
• Diagnose mechanical failures, disassemble and repair equipment, replace bearings and seals, and support production startup .
• Plan and execute machinery moves using forklifts, chain falls, come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, gantries, rollers, machinery skates, overhead cranes, and appropriate rigging hardware.
• Select and inspect slings, shackles, spreader bars, lifting fixtures, and other rigging equipment for each load and movement plan.
• Perform welding and light fabrication of guards, brackets, bases, mounts, and field modifications as needed.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, plumbing, and pipefitting trades on equipment installation and relocation projects.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined-space, lift-planning, and other jobsite safety requirements. Communicate progress and project needs to leadership.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of industrial millwright experience in manufacturing or heavy-industrial environments.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment installation , relocation, leveling, anchoring, assembly, and alignment.
• Practical machinery rigging experience with forklifts, skates, chain falls, jacks, rollers, gantries, or similar equipment.
• Proficiency with precision alignment and measuring tools, including laser alignment systems, dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, levels, feeler gauges, and straightedges.
• Strong mechanical assembly and mechanical troubleshooting skills involving bearings, couplings, seals, gearboxes, reducers, and power transmission systems.
• Ability to work from mechanical drawings, OEM installation manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and willingness to travel on project rotations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Rigging certification or documented formal rigging training.
• OSHA 30, Confined Space, or First Aid/CPR credentials.
• MIG, TIG, or Stick welding proficiency.
• Experience with production equipment in paper and pulp, plastics, blown film, textiles, extrusion, wire and cable , or other manufacturing sectors.
• Experience leading or mentoring apprentices, helpers, or temporary crews.
