About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Oncology unit, caring for and monitoring patients who have received chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and managing a general medical-surgical patient population
• Perform and manage clinical skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, surgical drains, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care/wound vac, and non-invasive airway management
• Administer and monitor heparin drips, insulin, and other high-acuity medications using PYXIS; document care using EPIC; communicate using SBAR methodology
• Float as needed to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations, including inpatient holding areas, as directed
• Participate in on-call requirements if called off on a pre-scheduled shift, attend monthly staff meetings, and reschedule any called-out shifts
• May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and expected to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure considered for submittal)
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to assignment start
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an inpatient setting (Med/Surg or similar)
• Willingness to obtain the ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification prior to or during the assignment; onsite training provided by the facility
• Local candidates (within 50 miles of the facility) are welcome; a local pay rate applies

• Current ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration certification
• Experience with oncology patient populations and chemotherapy administration
• Familiarity with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication frameworks
• First-time travelers are accepted

• Work within a structured oncology unit that offers onsite chemotherapy training and certification support, providing an opportunity to expand your clinical skill set
• Longer contract extensions of up to 26 weeks may be available, offering stability and continuity in your travel assignment
