Laboratory Team Lead

Evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for consumer product testing purposes. Independently conducts sample analysis of different complexity, preparation, extraction, and digestion with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Serves as a technical resource for Chemists. Leads the team in analytical techniques and analysis of data. Has limited responsibility for employees (trains new staff). Hand-on leader 50% or more works as Chemist.

Responsibilities include:

• Evaluating the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances for consumer product testing purposes.
• Independently conducting sample analysis of different complexity, preparation, extraction, and digestion with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Serving as a technical resource for Chemists.
• Leading the team in analytical techniques and analysis of data.
• Providing 'best in class' service to clients by promptly communicating issues or delays.
• Training of all Laboratory personnel.
• Monitoring performance of lab staff and employing coaching and discipline as needed.
• Supervising and providing guidance to receiving specialists to aid in sample login and transport of clients' samples.
• Providing assistance to clients in explaining Laboratory analysis, and technical solutions where appropriate.
• Assuming responsibility of authenticity Laboratory Certificates of Analysis.
• Receiving orders from clients on submitted samples, following up on job progress and reporting status to clients.
• Making recommendations to Regional Laboratory manager on upgrading the Laboratory.
• Taking an active role in local marketing efforts.
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of sampling techniques and sample sources.
• Performing testing and analysis, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Ensuring compliance with Laboratory Q.A. Manual and Safety Manual.
• Understanding and keeping current with lab quality practices and SOPs.
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Must have LNG experience

• 7+ years of experience in a regulated commercial lab environment.
• 2+ years of protocol and report writing experience.
• Advanced knowledge of routine & non-routine testing methods.

OR

• Bachelor Degree in Chemistry and similar disciplines.
• 3+ years of experience in the laboratory.
