Mechanical Engineer (PE)

What We're Looking For Barge Design Solutions is currently seeking to fill the position of Mechanical Project Engineer in our Facilities Engineering Solution Center. This position is available in any one of our 16 office locations. General Responsibilities Design mechanical systems and guide mechanical project teams to support design for a range of facilities projects, including commercial, healthcare, and industrial facilities. Mechanical systems design such as utility piping systems (steam, cooling water, chilled water, compressed air), HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and process ventilation. Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, engineering reports, and cost estimates. Review work of others for quality. Assist in client contact and communication during design, bidding, and construction administration, including attending client meetings at remote sites. Provide construction phase support, including responding to RFIs, bid reviews, and on-site construction observation visits. Compensation Salary will be commensurate with experience. Starting salary will increase proportionally with demonstrated design experience in one or more of the following systems or markets: plumbing system design, fire protection system design, industrial piping system design (including familiarity with ASME B31.1 and B31.3), industrial ventilation system design, pipe stress analysis, mission critical/data center, healthcare, federal or military (including UFC construction standards), water/wastewater facilities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Minimum 5 years of experience (8+ years preferred). Professional Engineer license required. Familiarity with international codes including IMC, IPC, IFGC, and IFC. Design experience with HVAC systems for commercial and/or institutional buildings, including cooling and heat load calculations using Carrier HAP or Trane Trace, system and equipment selection, air distribution design, and 4-pipe hydronic distribution design. Experience modeling mechanical systems using Revit or AutoCAD-based platforms.
