Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Experience Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. The environment is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical exams Create treatment plans Conduct diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Manage medical care of patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Program Details Externship experiences at East State Veterinary Clinic range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are designed for clinical‑year veterinary students. Eligibility & Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
