Mid-Level Mechanical Design EngineerMid-level mechanical design engineer with strong analytic and design skills, who also enjoys the hands on aspects of building and prototyping. The candidate should be comfortable with fast paced technical projects, and with defining their own requirements. We are looking for a motivated problem solver who can communicate clearly and work well in a team.Responsibilities May Include:Detailed metallic part design & analysisDetailed design of composite structures3D printed and injection molded plastic part designWork with Finite Element Analysis partners to analyze and optimize structural design.Manage design projects to cost, schedule, and performance targetsManage large assembly models in CAD, and implement best practice top-down modelling practicesCreate interface control documentsGenerate product and sub-system requirementsFabricate and test prototypesInterface with vendors to manufacture designs you createGenerate fully and minimally dimensioned drawings as requiredGenerate and maintain BOMsPrepare design presentations and summaries to document work.Demonstrate initiative by understanding what actions need to be taken and completing the required tasks while seeking the perspective of others as required.Job Requirements:Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Degrees and Professional Licensing are a plus3-7 years experience in a related mechanical engineering roleComposite experience; part design and bonded composite/metallic structuresFamiliarity with manufacturing techniques; composites molding, machining, 3D printingHands on experience building and prototyping your own designs.Familiarity with aircraft or unmanned aircraft (UAV, UAS, drone) is a strong plusPosition requires some domestic travelMust have U.S. person statusDesired Skills:Solidworks (2+ years experience minimum)Finite Element Analysis -Solidworks Simulation or other similar softwareMicrosoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerpointMatlab or Octave experience a plusFamiliarity with project management tools such as MS ProjectFamiliarity with hand tools used for light prototyping (drills, dremels, etc)
