Part-Time Indoor Cycling Instructor - Community Recreation

Instructor, Community Recreation (Metro): Module 2 Department: Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Reports To: Community Recreation Coord Recruitment Type: External/Internal Requisition ID: req6558 Employment Type: Part‑Time Faculty Union Position: Non-Union Work Schedule: Hours depend on program needs; days, evenings, and weekends may be required. Flexibility is necessary. Summary Leads high-energy indoor cycling classes in both in‑person and virtual formats, promoting cardiovascular health, endurance, and motivation. Designs dynamic workouts tailored to various fitness levels, incorporating music, pacing, and performance tracking. Required Certifications NETA AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America) ACE (American Council on Exercise) Essential Functions Provides instruction to students and community members. Develops and presents curriculum that provides a full experience, structured to accommodate all fitness levels. Sets up and cleans up each class. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Education and Experience/Training High School Diploma or equivalent Certifications/licenses applicable by discipline Required CPR/first aid certifications Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Basic knowledge of fundamental subject area concepts and procedures applicable to the departmental focus. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures. Ability to perform aerobic activity for the duration of the class. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the community. Preferred Qualifications Education and Experience/Training Associate’s degree in a related field Demonstrated experience with community-based instruction Professional presentation skills Competencies Critical Competencies: Service Focus, Communication, Quality of Work Physical Demands / Working Conditions Work may be performed in a normal, professional office environment. Work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. Work may be partially performed in an environment with sufficient noise that may require shouting. Work may be partially performed in an outdoor environment where employees may not be protected from weather conditions. Work may be partially performed in and/or around a swimming pool requiring the employee to be a proficient swimmer. Additional Information Special Note: This is a Part‑Time Non‑Bargaining Unit Position with a set rate of pay of $30.00 per hour. Residency Requirement: You must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance to the campus to respond to onsite work demands.
