RN II – Short Stay (Pre/Post Operative)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Rotating Shift | Monday–Friday Variable Days | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Start times: 0500, 0700, or 0800 | 6-week schedules provided in advance | No call required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative/procedure care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients across a variety of health care needs and disease processes
• Perform technical nursing skills and equipment operation within an outpatient surgery/short stay unit
• Conduct thorough patient assessments in a fast-paced pre- and post-operative environment
• Deliver pre- and post-procedure patient and family education
• Manage discharge planning and instructions for outpatient surgical patients

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice
• Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor (AHA or ARC)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor (AHA or ARC)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor (AHA or ARC)
• Completion of a basic cardiac arrhythmia class with a passing score

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pre-Op or Perioperative nursing (not OR scrub/circulator role)
• Minimum of 6 months of medical-surgical nursing experience within the last 2 years
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in pre- and post-operative diagnostic cath lab settings
