Role Description The Licensed Insurance Agent role at Kemper is a full-time hybrid position based in Columbus, OH, with flexibility to work from home part of the time. In this role, the agent will consult with prospective and existing customers to understand their insurance needs and recommend appropriate Kemper Auto and Kemper Life products. Daily responsibilities include handling inbound and outbound calls, preparing quotes, explaining coverage options, processing applications and policy changes, and maintaining accurate documentation in company systems. The agent will follow regulatory and company guidelines, support customers with billing and claims-related inquiries, and collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet sales and service goals. The role also involves participating in ongoing training to stay current on products, compliance requirements, and best practices. Qualifications Active state insurance license (or ability to obtain one within a defined timeframe) and knowledge of personal lines and/or life insurance products. Customer service and sales skills, including the ability to build rapport, identify needs, and present clear insurance solutions. Strong communication abilities, with clear verbal and written skills for explaining complex insurance concepts in accessible terms. Comfort with technology, including CRM or policy management systems, call center tools, and standard office software. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple customer inquiries, follow-ups, and policy tasks efficiently. Attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance, documentation accuracy, and adherence to company policies. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including both in‑office collaboration in Columbus, OH and independent remote work. High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education or relevant insurance experience is preferred.
