Work Environment

Located in the heart of Herkimer, our hospital-based orthopedic clinic provides a well-equipped and modern environment conducive to effective rehabilitation practices. This onsite setting allows for direct interaction with patients as they receive hands-on therapy and participate in a variety of therapeutic exercises. The hours for this role are Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, offering a consistent schedule that aligns well with work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with licensed Physical Therapists to develop and implement tailored treatment plans focused on individual patient goals.
• Administer hands-on therapy, utilizing therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and modalities as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Monitor and document patient progress closely, making adjustments to treatment plans based on patient feedback and clinical observations to enhance recovery outcomes.
• Educate patients about exercise techniques and home care strategies that promote further independence and recovery long after their therapy sessions.
• Work in partnership with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure a well-rounded approach to patient care.
• Maintain meticulous and up-to-date patient records in adherence to legal and ethical standards, ensuring all documentation is thorough and accurate.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on patients undergoing treatment for a range of orthopedic conditions, including post-surgical recovery and sports-related injuries. As a PTA, you'll have the opportunity to engage with diverse patient populations, including elderly clients recovering from hip and knee surgeries, athletes seeking rehabilitation for sports injuries, and patients with musculoskeletal disorders. Your ability to foster strong relationships with patients while providing empathetic, personalized care will be vital to their healing process.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or an associate degree with a specialization in Physical Therapy Assistance (AAS PTA).
• A valid and active state licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
• A minimum of two years of experience specifically in an orthopedic setting is required to ensure familiarity with treatments and patient needs.
• Proven knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for effective treatment delivery.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate meaningful interactions with patients and the healthcare team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a hospital or clinical rehabilitation setting, particularly within orthopedics, enhances the candidate's adaptability in this role.
• Advanced knowledge of rehabilitation techniques and therapeutic modalities is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
