Technician Training Manager

This individual will oversee training strategy, learning management systems, onboarding programs, career progression pathways, and workforce development efforts designed to improve productivity, retention, and employee growth. This is not a traditional facilitator or classroom trainer role. The focus is on building programs, leveraging learning technology, analyzing training effectiveness, and creating scalable development frameworks that support a growing field workforce. The role will manage a team of technical trainers while collaborating closely with operations leadership to ensure training investments align with business objectives. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive technician and sales training strategy. Manage and mentor a team of technical trainers. Optimize the organization's Learning Management System (LMS) to improve tracking, reporting, and employee development. Design onboarding programs and career progression pathways for field employees. Identify skill gaps and create targeted training initiatives to address operational needs. Establish training milestones, certifications, and competency frameworks. Analyze training effectiveness, ROI, retention metrics, and productivity outcomes. Partner with operations leadership to determine the most effective blend of in-person, virtual, and self-paced learning. Create systems for measuring knowledge retention and application in the field. Support succession planning and internal mobility initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in training processes and employee development programs. Travel to branch locations approximately 20–25% to assess needs and support implementation. Qualifications 7+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Technical Training, Workforce Development, or a related field. Experience leading training strategy for frontline, field-based, technical, warehouse, manufacturing, industrial, or blue-collar workforces. Experience managing training programs through an LMS platform. Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure training effectiveness and business impact. Experience building competency models, onboarding programs, and career development frameworks. Ability to communicate effectively with both executive leadership and frontline employees. Prior leadership or people management experience is preferred. Experience within materials handling, warehousing, industrial equipment, manufacturing, construction, logistics, or related industries is highly preferred.
