Occasional weekend work may be required.Work Setting: In-Person; on-site across multiple Heritage facility locationsPosition Overview:Heritage Behavioral Health Center (HBHC) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) providing comprehensive behavioral health and primary care services to individuals and families across central Illinois. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Specialist to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for the staff and individuals we serve.As a Maintenance Specialist, you will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across our Decatur and Clinton facilities in Macon and DeWitt Counties. You will work closely with the Director of Operations and Safety team to ensure a secure, compliant, and well-maintained environment. A safe, functional facility is foundational to the quality of care we provide.Leadership & Team ExpectationsTake pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for staff, clients, and visitors at all Heritage locationsDemonstrate reliability, accountability, and strong follow-through on all assigned maintenance tasks and work ordersCommunicate proactively with the Director of Operations and Safety team regarding facility concerns, supply needs, or compliance issuesCollaborate respectfully with staff across all departments and represent Heritage's mission and values in every interactionTake initiative to identify and address facility issues before they are reportedCore Responsibilities:Facility Maintenance & RepairsPerform general maintenance and repair tasks across all Heritage facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentryConduct routine building inspections and complete preventive maintenance on scheduleRespond promptly to maintenance requests submitted through the Maintenance email systemProactively identify facility issues and address them before they are formally reportedAssist with general cleaning of Heritage's main facility and provide support at off-site locations as neededGrounds & Seasonal ResponsibilitiesPerform snow and ice removal during inclement weather to maintain safe access to all Heritage facilitiesMaintain building exteriors and grounds in accordance with agency standardsCompliance & SafetyAssist the Director of Operations in ensuring all Heritage buildings comply with OSHA and CARF facility standardsDocument all maintenance activities accurately and report issues to leadership in a timely mannerFollow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of tools and personal protective equipmentLogistics & Vendor SupportPick up orders from outside vendors and deliver supplies or other items to off-site Heritage locations as neededCoordinate with vendors and contractors as directed by the Director of OperationsPerform other duties as assigned consistent with this rolePerformance Expectations / What Success Looks LikeAll Heritage facilities are consistently maintained in a safe, clean, and functional conditionMaintenance requests are responded to promptly and resolved in a timely mannerRoutine inspections and preventive maintenance are completed and documented on scheduleFacility issues are identified and addressed proactively before they escalateOSHA and CARF compliance standards are consistently met across all Heritage locationsStaff, clients, and visitors experience Heritage facilities as welcoming, safe, and well-maintainedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of general building maintenance including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentryFamiliarity with OSHA safety standards, preventive maintenance principles, and routine building inspection processesStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; ability to diagnose and resolve issues independentlyAbility to prioritize and manage multiple work orders and tasks simultaneouslyExcellent attention to detail and proactive approach to identifying facility issuesStrong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with staff across all departmentsAbility to lift 25+ pounds regularly; occasional heavy lifting and power tool operation requiredAbility to work in both indoor and outdoor environmental conditionsEducation and Experience:High school diploma or GED requiredPrior commercial or institutional maintenance experience preferredVocational training or certification in a relevant trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry) preferredValid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance requiredEquivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and sustained physical activity throughout each shiftMust be able to lift 25+ pounds regularly; occasional heavy lifting and power tool operation requiredExposure to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including inclement weatherRegular use of hand and power tools, maintenance equipment, and cleaning chemicals; proper PPE requiredValid driver's license required; travel between Heritage facility locations in Macon and DeWitt Counties requiredMust adhere to all Heritage policies, procedures, and safety standardsCompensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $18.00–$24.00 per hour ($37,440–$49,920 annually), based on education and experience.Heritage offers the following with this position:Generous Time Off: Vacation, sick, personal, and holiday leaveWellness Benefits: Every other Friday off (paid), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and fitness reimbursementInsurance: Health, dental, vision, flex spending accounts, and additional life insurance.
