Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our Child & Adolescent Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts . Our Child & Adolescent unit is a 110-bed and 57-bassinette hospital located within Baystate Medical Center, is the only accredited full-service children’s hospital in western Massachusetts and provides primary and advanced medical care to babies, children, and adolescents and their families.

• The Children’s and Adolescents Unit sees babies and kids from birth to age 21.
• Work closely with child life specialists to make the child’s care the best possible.

The Patient Care Technician role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ lives while gaining hands-on clinical experience and building a strong foundation for career growth in healthcare while working alongside a collaborative care team dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care.

The Patient Care Technician Will:

• Provided safe, age-appropriate patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, elimination, and personal care while promoting patient dignity and safety.
• Monitored and accurately documented vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other physiological parameters; promptly reported significant changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assisted with treatments, procedures, dressing changes, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and physician examinations in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Provided one-to-one patient observation as needed, recognized changes in patient condition or safety concerns, and responded appropriately to emergency situations.
• Collaborated effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members while maintaining clear communication, accurate documentation, and patient-centered care.

• Schedule: Three twelve hour shifts per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Required Skills

• High School diploma or GED
• BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• At least one year of patient care experience (this experience can vary in level of long-term care, specialty, acute care
• PCT training or CNA training

No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
