Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Telemetry Stepdown position requiring NIHSS certification and prior travel experience.
Details
Work in a busy stroke/neuro/trauma stepdown unit within a hospital setting
Patient population includes stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, and general med/surg and IMC/stepdown level of care
Typical patient assignment is 1:4, which may be higher when additional resources are available
Specialized procedures include lumbar drains, NIHSS assessments, and stroke education
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Every other weekend required
Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
Prior experience in Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
Trauma Level II hospital experience required
Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
Provide nursing care to stroke, neurosurgery, and trauma patients in a fast-paced stepdown environment
Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
Navy blue scrubs required
Must be clean-shaven to ensure proper mask seal for respirator fit testing; no medical or religious exemptions accepted, and CAPRs/PAPRs are not provided or permitted
Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and will not be accepted
Clinicians may not work as a traveler for more than 1 year at this facility without taking a 6-month break before returning
