Patient Transporter

Position Summary

The Patient Transporter promptly and safely transports patients to and from procedures, tests, and between units according to established policies, procedures, and time schedules. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, enhancing patient throughput and operational efficiency, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. License/Certification: American Heart Association BLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Experience: Minimum six months' experience preferred, within hospital patient care services. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with coworkers and other departments with professionalism and respect. Builds and sustains professional relationships with coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives. Provides clear directions and responds appropriately to employees while utilizing all relevant electronic and communication devices. Possesses knowledge of and proficiency in all OSHA and local requirements related to assigned work. Possesses willingness to be open to learning and growing.

Work Environment

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching approximately 25% of a workday; visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal; standing and walking approximately 75% of a workday; lifting approximately 50 to 100 pounds frequently with assistance occasionally; physical abilities required to push, pull or transport equipment and patients.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Environmental Services Leadership.
