Database Administrator

We are seeking a Database Administrator with a strong background in Azure, MDM, Azure Databricks, DevOps, Database Management, and development and automation to work remotely from anywhere in Texas. The position requires an ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to complete requests successfully against established timelines with limited supervision. This position also requires the ability to learn and apply new technology, work independently or in a team environment, and collaborate with all levels of staff within the client to satisfy business needs.


You will be responsible for performing computer systems analysis or development work. Work involves coordinating, planning and analysis of user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. This role may also be responsible for the following:


Database Administration with the following skillsets and understanding:
Azure Expertise:
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure services, particularly Azure SQL Database and other database offerings.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Familiarity with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Azure CLI, and PowerShell scripting.


2. Azure Data bricks
• Deep understanding of Azure data bricks and warehouse concepts


3. MDM :
• Deep understanding of Informatica MDM and working with data profiling


4. Devops:
• Experience implementing DevOps practices, such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
• Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration with development teams to integrate database changes seamlessly.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Deployment exposure in SalesForce and MuleSoft environment.


5. DatabaseManagement:
• Proficient in database administration, maintenance, tuning, and optimization for Oracle, Postgre SQL, Sybase and other databases.
• Knowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Experience in database security, including data encryption, authentication, and authorization.


6. Development and Automation:
• Proficiency in Oracle and Postgres SQL and ability to write complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Ability to create, manage, and monitor database deployment and migration strategies.
Monitoring and Performance Tuning:
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance analysis to optimize database performance.
• Expertise in identifying and resolving database performance issues, such as bottlenecks and slow queries.


7. Soft Skills:
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose and troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Collaboration: Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Communication: Clear and effective communication skills to document processes and explain technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.


Requirements:
Yrs Experience
4 Experience in Data warehouse aggregation and integration of data across multiple applications
4 Experiencing in assessing existing databases and multiple information sources for the purpose of integrating existing data while improving data access, storage, data transparency and operational functions.
4 Working knowledge of data warehouse end-to-end implementation processes, from business requirement logical modeling, physical database design, ETL, end-user tools, database, SQL, and performance tuning.
4 Enterprise Portal Application working knowledge
4 Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing used when leading development activities, presenting to leadership, and training less experienced developers.
3 Experience with user journey mapping, story boarding, creating mockups and wireframes, application usability design, fast prototyping, and proof-of-concept development.
2 Performance management dashboard development.


Preferred
2 Strong working knowledge of Tableau Software, Power BI, Power Apps, Oracle APEX.
2 Strong working knowledge of Azure AD B2C, Azure ADF.
2 Strong scripting experience using Python for data integration.
2 Familiarity with Informatica MDM, Informatica data Governance.
1 Strong working knowledge of the following DFPS systems/programs (including but not limited to): IMPACT, ABCS.
1 Technical Documentation including Design Documents, Standards, and Configuration Plans.
1 Experience as a participant in agile software development teams.
1 Experience with Federal, State, or Local government data reporting; with strong understanding of state government.
1 Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 / Sec 508.
