CONTRACT SPECIALIST

Job Title
The job duties include:
Awards contracts within delegated contracting officer authority or recommends award to contracting officer on contracts outside delegated authority.
Prepares rate and cost adjustments on a contract; redirects effort on a contract; coordinates time extension for contract performance; incorporates change orders.
Serves as the principal contact for the contract and represents the agency in conferences with industry, state, and local governments pertaining to the procurement.
Determines when costs claimed under cost contracts are allowable. Negotiates and deals with representatives of the private sector, government experts, or managers to procure extensive services and complex equipment.
Plans and conducts post-award conferences to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and to preclude unauthorized changes or alterations in contract provisions.
