Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Registered Nurse (RN ICU) provides direct patient care for critically ill patients and supports safe, evidence-based clinical outcomes. This per diem role requires readiness to float to ED as needed to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities:

Assess, monitor, and document patient condition using clinical protocols and early-warning indicators.
Administer medications and therapies accurately while maintaining patient safety and medication compliance.
Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to implement care plans and respond to clinical changes promptly.
Perform ICU nursing interventions including ventilator/oxygen support per established standards and training.
Maintain infection prevention practices, sterile technique as required, and proper line/catheter care.
Escalate concerns and communicate effectively with providers and unit teams, including during ED float coverage.

Qualifications:

Hold an active RN license in good standing.
Demonstrate ICU experience and competency with critical care nursing workflows.
Possess strong assessment, prioritization, and rapid response skills for unstable patients.
Maintain current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or required per facility standards.
Exhibit the ability to float reliably to ED without exception and adapt to varying acuity levels.
Demonstrate proficient documentation skills in electronic health record systems.
