Registered Nurse - ICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Registered Nurse (RN ICU) provides direct patient care for critically ill patients and supports safe, evidence-based clinical outcomes. This per diem role requires readiness to float to ED as needed to ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition using clinical protocols and early-warning indicators.
• Administer medications and therapies accurately while maintaining patient safety and medication compliance.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to implement care plans and respond to clinical changes promptly.
• Perform ICU nursing interventions including ventilator/oxygen support per established standards and training.
• Maintain infection prevention practices, sterile technique as required, and proper line/catheter care.
• Escalate concerns and communicate effectively with providers and unit teams, including during ED float coverage.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license in good standing.
• Demonstrate ICU experience and competency with critical care nursing workflows.
• Possess strong assessment, prioritization, and rapid response skills for unstable patients.
• Maintain current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or required per facility standards.
• Exhibit the ability to float reliably to ED without exception and adapt to varying acuity levels.
• Demonstrate proficient documentation skills in electronic health record systems.
